about

This piece is a tribute to the expansive skies of the southwest. “Cielo del Desierto” means desert sky in Spanish. From the top of the Sandia Mountains in my hometown Albuquerque, NM, you can see for a hundred miles or more. The clouds are more tangible up at 8,000 feet and you feel like they are coming to greet you with a warm familiarity. Time seems like it moves slower up there, and the worries and woes of the creatures down in the valley are of little concern to the birds soaring above the clouds. I imagine this is what it might sound like if a bird were to be flying around the desert skies.
